The biggest change to breakfast in the centre this year was not an opening but a collapse. Kofi Kofi, the mobile-coffee chain that had been on Brno's streets since 2008, vanished in June when its parent company ran out of money — taking with it one of the very few places pouring coffee at 06:00.
The replacement arrived from an unexpected direction. Les Fournils de France on Kobližná opens at 06:30 on weekdays with croissants straight from the oven — now the earliest reliable option in the middle of town.
Elsewhere the centre lost two long-standing rooms: Coffee Fusion after fifteen years on Jánská, and the functionalist Kavárna Era, which closed "temporarily" in February and never reopened. Against that, PRIME Bistro now runs weekend brunch until 15:00, and a new waterfront café is due on the náplavka around October.
